Package: grub-pc Version: 1.98+20100710-1 Severity: wishlist Please include 915resolution in video.list. Doing that allows grub to access the native screen resolution (1280x800) on my laptop that the Intel Xorg/KMS graphics drivers know about but is hidden from the list of modes in VESA/BIOS/whatever. I modified /etc/default/grub and it works nicely. Not sure if it will fail gracefully when not on a machine with an Intel GPU, but I assume so since video.list contains a bochs driver and I noticed no warnings on bare metal so far.
