Ok, in fact it seems that it's because the correct properties (ID_GPHOTO2) aren't added by udev when my camera is connected, so gio never detects it. Manually adding the stuff to an own udev rules makes the camera appear in shotwell. So it's definitely related to #531978. Thanks for your help. Cheers, -- Yves-Alexis
