Package: mutt Version: 1.5.9-2 Severity: wishlist It would be nice to allow notifications when new mail arrives, so mutt doesn't need to poll for it. When running mutt on the machine where mail arrives, a program like procmail could be used to send a SIGUSR1 to mutt whenever there is new mail, for example. However, mutt doesn't support any notification to trigger new mail checking.
If this would be implemented, mutt can completely go to sleep and optionally be swapped out if there is no activity. Without it this is impossible, because it's checking for new mail every so often. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.11 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Versions of packages mutt depends on: ii exim4 4.52-1 metapackage to ease exim MTA (v4) ii exim4-daemon-light [mail-tra 4.52-1 lightweight exim MTA (v4) daemon ii libc6 2.3.5-3 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libdb4.3 4.3.28-3 Berkeley v4.3 Database Libraries [ ii libgnutls11 1.0.16-13.1 GNU TLS library - runtime library ii libidn11 0.5.18-1 GNU libidn library, implementation ii libncursesw5 5.4-9 Shared libraries for terminal hand ii libsasl2 2.1.19-1.5 Authentication abstraction library Versions of packages mutt recommends: ii locales 2.3.5-3 GNU C Library: National Language ( ii mime-support 3.34-1 MIME files 'mime.types' & 'mailcap -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
