This bug is caused by the patch to switch to wodim being commented out.
The test is only performed if you are logged in as the root user (it is #if 0 out for non root users) which is probably why it went un-noticed.
Since you *must* run xcdroast as root the first time this is a problem if you didn't install an earlier (working) version.
