The "compose" key emulation, using Multi_key (see the previous log). I'm asigning it using "keycode 166 = Multi_key" in '~/.Xmodmap'.

Yes, it's the same problem. I got dead keys problem too (like ^ or ").Of course i forgot to say this happens when ibus input method is turned off and it should act as pass-through.
I've got the following set in my environment with im-config (using the default auto-mode):
