How can this help? Please get a stack trace with debugging symbols.
(From 067: http://www.bofh.it/~md/debian/.)

(I don' know how to get a stack trace of udev)

With udev 067:
--------------
I've rebuilt 067 unstripped for my architecture (amd64).
This one doesnt segfault, the /dev/hdx devices are created.

But as well as the /dev/sd[c-f] they are created with the 'floppy' group. And like in bug #321276, if I restart udev, they are created respectively with the 'cdrom' group for the /dev/hd[ab] (which is correct) and 'hal' group for /dev/sd[c-f].

When I restart udev, I get the following messages in the syslog:

----------------------------------
Aug 16 12:26:35 tangerine udev[12773]: udev_db.c: unable to read db file '/dev/.udevdb/[EMAIL PROTECTED]@vcs5' Aug 16 12:26:35 tangerine udev[12774]: udev_db.c: unable to read db file '/dev/.udevdb/[EMAIL PROTECTED]@vcsa5' Aug 16 12:26:35 tangerine udev[12775]: udev_db.c: unable to read db file '/dev/.udevdb/[EMAIL PROTECTED]@vcs4' Aug 16 12:26:35 tangerine udev[12776]: udev_db.c: unable to read db file '/dev/.udevdb/[EMAIL PROTECTED]@vcsa4' Aug 16 12:26:35 tangerine udev[12777]: udev_db.c: unable to read db file '/dev/.udevdb/[EMAIL PROTECTED]@vcs3' Aug 16 12:26:35 tangerine udev[12778]: udev_db.c: unable to read db file '/dev/.udevdb/[EMAIL PROTECTED]@vcsa3' Aug 16 12:26:35 tangerine udev[12785]: udev_db.c: unable to read db file '/dev/.udevdb/[EMAIL PROTECTED]@vcs2' Aug 16 12:26:35 tangerine udev[12787]: udev_db.c: unable to read db file '/dev/.udevdb/[EMAIL PROTECTED]@vcsa2' Aug 16 12:26:35 tangerine udev[12814]: udev_db.c: unable to read db file '/dev/.udevdb/[EMAIL PROTECTED]@vcs6' Aug 16 12:26:35 tangerine udev[12818]: udev_db.c: unable to read db file '/dev/.udevdb/[EMAIL PROTECTED]@vcsa6' Aug 16 12:26:35 tangerine udev[12833]: udev_db.c: unable to read db file '/dev/.udevdb/[EMAIL PROTECTED]@vcs7' Aug 16 12:26:35 tangerine udev[12836]: udev_db.c: unable to read db file '/dev/.udevdb/[EMAIL PROTECTED]@vcsa7'

It complains about a line too long in /etc/udev/ude.conf but it is the file shipped with the package:

-----------------------
# udev.conf

# Where in the filesystem to place the device nodes
udev_root="/dev"

# The name and location of the udev database.
udev_db="/dev/.udevdb"

# The name and location of the udev rules file(s).
udev_rules="/etc/udev/rules.d"

# The syslog(3) priority: "err", "info", or the numerical value.
udev_log="err"

# maximum size of the /dev tmpfs
tmpfs_size="10M"
