Hi Russ,

An interesting directory would be <pathdb>. Why not use <pathdb>
for that pullnews state file?
We have active.times and newsgroups there for instance.

Instead of using ".pullnews", why not use "pullnews.marks" (or any better
name without an initial dot? "marks" was for high/low water marks)

Ah, yes, that's exactly the directory that I was mentally reaching for.
Thank you! And yes, renaming the file sounds like a good idea to me.

Done in INN 2.6.0:
   http://inn.eyrie.org/trac/changeset/9100

Note for Marco: maybe you should deal with the renaming of $HOME/.pullnews
to $pathdb/pullnews.marks in your upgrade script (for INN 2.6.0, or
before if you wish to backport the patch -- straight forward).
I cannot do that with innupgrade because it does not know $pathdb at the
time it is run.

Looking at that bug, we started setting HOME to try to get pgpverify to
look in the correct place for the keyring. I suspect that the current
version of pgpverify now deals with this by setting the keyring location
explicitly, so I suspect this is just a legacy that we could now drop.

I have checked that pgpverify still works fine.
