I am trying to play a dvd using the xine GUI in xine-ui. I start it
from a konsole. The GUI comes up, and I press the 'dvd' button
there. I get an error window, and, in particular, the message
'libdvdread: Can't stat /dev/dvd' on the konsole. Indeed, my
(only) dvd drive is mounted as /dev/dvd1 instead of /dev/dvd.
Linking /dev/dvd to /dev/dvd1 let's me play the dvd for this
session. Also I guess I could configure xine such as to look for
dvds in /dev/dvd1. But as a user I think that the player software
should find the drive automatically.
I am aware that this is possible not the correct package for
the bug report. I didn't know any better.
