Yep, sorry. Switching apartments has been taking most of my time lately.
If you don't mind building from source, there is a proposed package available,
via git:
git://repo.or.cz/debian-git/jrn.git proposed-updates
or using dget:
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/g/git/git_1.7.2.2-0.1.dsc
and I think Anders has put up some binary packages at
https://launchpad.net/~git-core/+archive/ppa

FWIW the package works pretty well for me. My plan was to fix
http://bugs.debian.org/592733 and then get a sponsor (though maybe
Gerrit will be back soon, making that last step unnecessary).
