hello,
autofs ldap backend prior to 5.0.5 version lacked simple bind
authentication, this left with only two authentication options: sasl
authentication is unneeded (and nightmare to set up properly) middle
layer than autofs-ldap is used against openldap, and no authentication
at all (aka anonymous) is not a good option too. with the release 5.0.5
(it wonders me - why it took so long) comes simple bind auth feature.
unfortunately squeeze frozen with 5.0.4 (and ubuntu lucid released with
the one too).
please consult with release managers and request permission to upgrade
autofs5 to 5.0.5 or backport this feature alone (official patch link
provided).

p.s. I placed wishlist severity on this bug report, but think the lack
of this feature is of release critical magnitude.
