Well, no, in fact I can't reproduce this with 2.3.1. Empty folder issue is in 2.3.2, not with 2.3.1. Could you try with fresh amarok settings (~/.kde/share/apps/amarok and ~/.kde/share/config/amarok* moved away)? A couple of playlist renaming issues were fixed in 2.3.1.
