Package: oss4-base Version: 4.2-build2003-1 If an OSS4 driver kills the kernel, recovery is difficult for the casual user, because OSS4 is loaded even in single user mode (recovery). I'd suggest moving OSS4 init out of rcS.d, of course, considering that some later loaded sound server might like to have the audio drivers available.
