Package: procps
Version: 1:3.2.8-9

When I type "ps aux" into the console, a list of processes appears like this:

...
root 3252 0.0 0.0 2620 1100 ? S< 11:02 0:00 udevd --daemon
1000      3400  1.0  0.5 172700 47436 ?        Sl   11:18   0:21 skype
1000 3552 0.0 0.0 7036 1932 ? S 11:34 0:00 /usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd-metadata
1000      3779  0.0  0.0   4644   996 pts/2    R+   11:53   0:00 ps aux

I'm the only user of the system:
$ whoami
<username>

$ groups
<username> cdrom floppy audio dip video plugdev netdev bluetooth fuse scanner powerdev

Instread, ps aux should print <username> instead on 1000, as it always did.
