When I pick the "turn off bluetooth" option I'd expect the bluetooth light to go out. It doesn't. the /sys entry /sys/devices/platform/sony-laptop/bluetoothpower still shows 255. Setting it to zero makes the light go out, and the bluetooth applet's icon disappears.
