Sure would be nice if this were fixed before Squeeze is released. Same erratic problem with gnome-panel here, same intel video driver on two new laptops, one with Intel's GM45 integrated chipset, the other with Intel's "Arrandale" chipset, both with the current version of Squeeze.
"pkill gnome-panel" corrects it until the next time.
