Package: fvwm
Version: 1:2.5.30.ds-1
Severity: normal

Hello,

Please can we document somehwere, rather loudly, in a user-visible place
(perhaps not only in NEWS.Debian.gz) -- such as the man page, that Debian
now ships with a default system-wide config file which is read in in lieu of
no user config file being found?

This behaviour now contradicts the latest entry in News.Debian.gz (fvwm
(2.5.10-6) unstable; urgency=low) which clearly states that it is down to
the user to use FVWM's internal mechanism to generate a config file.

ISTR in the dim and distant past, that Manoj and I had a conversation
whereby he would put in place just this sort of default system-wide
configuration file, for presumably good reasons that I've forgotten about.

But either way, this needs documenting, and I am happy to provide a
Debian-specific patch for this, if I am told where.

It's making user-support a nightmare without this documented, as this
clearly deviates from upstream and what's stated in the stale Debian NEWS
file.
