Package: flashplugin-nonfree Version: 1:2.8.2 Severity: normal In 1:2.8.2 after the installation of package is deemed successfull by aptitude I have no libflashplayer.so in my .../plugins folder.
The error was with the download of libflashplayer.so AFTER package instalation. The error reported is Configurando flashplugin-nonfree (1:2.8.2) ... ERROR: wget failed to download http://people.debian.org/~bartm/flashplugin- nonfree/fp10.sha512.i386.pgp.asc More information might be available at: http://wiki.debian.org/FlashPlayer This is a bug with some very annoying consequences: 1) Obviously, the flashplugin-nonfree package does NOT install libflasplayer.so 2) the flashplugin-nonfree package is installed SUCCESSFULLY on the system 3) The admin of the system does a aptitude search flashplugin? and sees that it IS installed so he goes on to try to find some other cullprit for no more video streaming, spending an hour to test things, just to come back and see that the problem was with the package all along (ok, so I should have looked harder, but hey the package was marked as installed ;) FIX: Deem package as BROKEN if the post-install does not end up having a libflashplayer.so in the /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/ folder. This would facilitate debuging .
