I don't see how this is a missing basic feature. Nor do I see if why the
user (unlike me) feels it needs to be forwarded upstream, the user
cannot do this himself via:
https://rt.cpan.org/Public/Dist/Display.html?Name=libwww-perl .
Also the user could in theory use the perl modules provided with the
package to implement this sort of functionality himself.
