severity 274705 grave thanks The fact that mv --reply=no doesn't work can cause data loss. Going by the man page, users can expect a mv --reply=no not to overwrite any files. If they rely on this behavior to stop themselves (or one of their scripts) from overwriting files, then they will end up actually overwriting files and losing data.
