Subject: jpilot does not connect to Palm Treo 680 via USB
Package: jpilot
Version: 1.8.0.2-1
Severity: important
Tags: squeeze
The Treo 680 after connecting via USB is recognized by the kernel.
dmsesg shows:
[ 786.008168] usb 1-1.1: new full speed USB device using ehci_hcd and
address 5
[ 786.101401] usb 1-1.1: New USB device found, idVendor=0830,
idProduct=0061
[ 786.101413] usb 1-1.1: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2,
SerialNumber=7
[ 786.101422] usb 1-1.1: Product: Palm Handheld
[ 786.101430] usb 1-1.1: Manufacturer: Palm, Inc.
[ 786.101437] usb 1-1.1: SerialNumber: PalmSN987654321
[ 786.101689] usb 1-1.1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
But jpilot with the default serial port usb: gets no connection to the
device. After pushing the sync button on the palm connection times out.
Also I could not figure out to which device the palm is really bound. I
think it is a problem with the new usb autoconfiguration of Debian
Squueze. In Debian Lenny 5.03 this worked without any problem.
You should try to debug using:
$ pilot-xfer -l -p usb:
pilot-xfer is in the pilot-link Debian package.
The problem may not be in jpilot but libpisock9 (pilot-link) instead.
You can also try to run jpilot in debug mode:
$ jpilot -d
Bye
