At any rate, I have a PPA version of SDL-mixer 1.2.11 available here: https://launchpad.net/~tigerfishdaisy/+archive/ppa-fish. I realize that it depends on some packages within the PPA itself that may not be wanted, but I can provide a set of SDL-mixer 1.2.11 sources that are already packaged. (without the unwanted dependencies).
