Package: bash Version: 4.0-4 Severity: normal On a freshly installed debian squeeze, add some color in bash prompt with: export PS1='\e[0;31m\u\...@\h:\w\$ '
Once the new colorized prompt appears, type a command larger than the space available after the prompt. For example, hold the "a" key: 10 characters before the end of the line, the "a" letters start to overwrite the prompt. Then, the first line is totally overwritten, this time to the end, and eventually a new line is started. This bug does not occur with the default PS1. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.30-2-686 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages bash depends on: ii base-files 5.0.0 Debian base system miscellaneous f ii debianutils 3.2.2 Miscellaneous utilities specific t ii libc6 2.11.2-2 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libncurses5 5.7+20100313-2 shared libraries for terminal hand Versions of packages bash recommends: ii bash-completion 1:1.1-3 programmable completion for the ba Versions of packages bash suggests: pn bash-doc <none> (no description available) -- no debconf information
