it's too much maintenance, especially considering security bugs, to continue to
support an outdated branch of qemu.  we've already got qemu-kvm, which is at
least based on a very similar version, and xen-qemu* (not sure what version
it's based on).

as an alternative that doesn't require hardware acceleration, consider trying
virtualbox-ose.
