Review your fancy plugin configuration (Configuration menu, Preferences window, Plugins branch, Fancy item), you probably have "Block external content" checked, uncheck it. That will enable navigation with the plugin. If you want URLs to be open with the external browser instead check also the corresponding checkbox. Also depending on your external browser configuration opening a link may just open a new tab on the already opened browser window, which can be on other virtual desktop and gives the impression that nothing happens when clicking.
