contrib is not enabled by default in Debian. Therefore, most users won't
find conky when they search for it with their favorite package
managers, notably users that did not need to have contrib/non-free to
get their system running and with the inclusion of "nouveau" in squeeze,
there will be more people like this.
I think that another compromise would be to show users how to replace
the nvidia variable with some exec variable. I suppose that all the
values are available using nvidia-settings on the command line. I am
using "nouveau" driver and therefore I cannot propose a replacement for
the nvidia variable.
