Package: cifs-utils Version: 2:4.5-2 Severity: minor
The documentation for uid/gid taken together with that for forceuid/forcegid is misleading: it says that if no uid= option is given (resp. gid=) then the value defaults to 0 (resp. 0), and that forceuid= (resp. forcegid=) always forces the value of the uid= (resp. gid=) option. However, this is not quite true: if no uid= (resp. gid=) option is given, then forceuid (resp. forcegid) has no effect. It would seem to me that the best fix for this is to fix the implementation, as the documentation sounds quite sensible, but I guess this is less likely. To fix the documentation, it should be noted for forceuid (resp. forcegid) that an explicit uid= (resp. gid=) option is required. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers maverick-updates APT policy: (500, 'maverick-updates'), (500, 'maverick-security'), (500, 'maverick-proposed'), (500, 'maverick-backports'), (500, 'maverick') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.35-23-generic (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages cifs-utils depends on: ii libc6 2.12.1-0ubuntu9 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libkeyutils1 1.4-1 Linux Key Management Utilities (li ii libkrb5-3 1.8.1+dfsg-5ubuntu0.1 MIT Kerberos runtime libraries ii libtalloc2 2.0.1-1 hierarchical pool based memory all ii samba-common 2:3.5.4~dfsg-1ubuntu8 common files used by both the Samb cifs-utils recommends no packages.
