Package: qemu Version: 0.12.5+dfsg-2 Severity: normal When I start qemu with "-M isapc" on my amd64 host, I only get a black screen (640x480) without any display at all. It does work with "-M pc".
In a previous release (from the 0.8 days), there was no Cirrus GD5446 emulated for this machine type, but a Cirrus ISA chip instead (or at least the Windows driver reported it as such). The bug report on qemu-devel (http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg26287.html) is probably the same as this bug report. Another funny thing is the existence of "-M isapc" for qemu-system-x86_64, where it is completely useless (no amd64-compatible machine has ever been ISA-only). Using the latest stable upstream version of qemu, 0.13.0 as of now, does not help at all, but trying "-vga vmware" results in "pc_vga_init: vmware_vga: no PCI bus" as expected. At least Cirrus emulation should behave the same way. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages qemu depends on: ii qemu-system 0.12.5+dfsg-2 QEMU full system emulation binarie ii qemu-user 0.12.5+dfsg-2 QEMU user mode emulation binaries ii qemu-utils 0.12.5+dfsg-2 QEMU utilities qemu recommends no packages.
