The setup described in Message #15 of Debian Bug #572143 at
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=572143#15 permits that
the 'wpa_supplicant' daemon works correctly when started by
'NetworkManager' using 'dbus'.
But even with this setup, 'wpa_cli' and 'wpa_gui' do NOT discover that
the 'wpa_supplicant' daemon is managed through 'dbus', and both fail.
As workaround, inside the 'dbus' service file for 'wpa_supplicant', I
have hardcoded :
'Exec=/sbin/wpa_supplicant -u -s -i eth0 -D wext -c
/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf'
- 'wpa_cli' then sometimes correctly connects to 'wpa_supplicant', but
my hardcoding will fail as soon as 'udev' will associate my wireless
chip to anything else than 'eth0'.
- 'wpa_gui' still does NOT connect at all to 'wpa_supplicant'.
Therefore, please improve the 'wpa_cli' and 'wpa_gui' clients so that
both automatically discover and use 'dbus' to connect to the
'wpa_supplicant' daemon.
If applicable, please document precisely the '-u' and '-s' options in
the man pages of 'wpa_cli' and 'wpa_gui'.
