Hello, This problems usually happens when linphone fails to open the alsa device in one direction, in this case this is in write direction (playing sounds). This can happen it another program opens the alsa audio device in writing mode just before linphone wants to use it: maybe esd does that. Can you reproduce the problem with esd off ?
