Hi, I stumbed over the Debian bug when doing a bit of research on the problem - I'm running Ubuntu though, but with the nouveau driver and I'm seeing exactly the same issue as you. I even have cases of the the previous data being shown after a reboot while kdm is initializing and have a feeling it has to do with the video memory not being cleared properly.
