I am pretty sure the problems you describe are related to the kernel
code, not the userspace tools.

The whole concept of the freeze is that new versions of packages don't
migrate to testing, so for sure ocfs2-tools 1.6.x won't be making it
into squeeze. I will however be uploading ocfs2-tools 1.6.3 to unstable
once I fix some build issues I am encountering.
