Package: jpilot
Version: 0.99.7-0.99.8-pre10-2
Severity: wishlist

pilot-link already supports a TCP server mode, which can be used to
synchronise a Palm over Bluetooth or any other TCP connection.

Wouldn't it be possible to make jpilot use this instead of direct
access to the data files, so that a single data store could be
conveniently used by multiple clients?

I am faced by the problem that I have three machines: home, work,
laptop. I use jpilot a lot, and if I am good, I never forget to
rsync ~/.jpilot/ from the last location to my current location, so
that my data do not get out of sync.

But it happens that I forget this which results in data loss. I am
uneasy about using unison or the like to keep different ~/.jpilot
directories in sync. Thus, I'd prefer to be able to access just
a single data store, or to somehow make a snapshot of ~/.jpilot,
which I can later synchronise with the directory again (e.g. when
I come home from a business trip).

Cheers,
