Package: dpkg-dev Version: 1.15.8.7 Severity: normal Currently looking at http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?tag=unresolved-symbols-so;[email protected]
Some of these warnings may turn into build failures when building the archive with ld --no-copy-dt-needed-entries, so I would like to see a way to let the build fail with unresovled symbols. E.g. dpkg-gensymbols provides such options.
Maybe later change the default to fail the build by default, and allow overriding this on a per package basis. Most libraries in /usr/lib would pass this test, I don't know how large the number of packages is, which do have unresolved symbols by intent (like libcgic, bug #558872).
