The problem is still there, but in disguise:

0.8.2-1 does not pop-up an error message. Instead, after I pressed
"[", it became unresponsive, spinning somewhere and consuming cpu
until I terminated it after a few minutes (77% f-spot, 22% kcryptd
on my SSD, but disk access led unlit. So perhaps reading from cache
whatever it was looking for).

WARNING: 0.8.2-1 changed the sqlite schema (this may have been due
to the changes I made to plugin settings), and I had to restore
~/.config/f-spot/ from backup before 0.6.2-2 would start up again.
However, I'm using ZFS and had a recent snapshot, so that was okay.
I'm not upset, but you might want to note the compatibility issue if
you suggest upgrading to someone who may be less technically minded.
They might become annoyed if they think they'll have to recreate
the tag database for their collection of 10,000 photos...
