While we are at it, could you *please* drop the ugly "REL-*" directories
for the next releases?

Those directories make automatic retrieving of GNU tarballs from
ftp.gnu.org *much* more complex, as an exception has to be made for
sharutils.

In particular, Debian "watch" files (which, together with the "uscan" tool,
may be used to know that a new upstream release is available) become
more difficult to write (if they may still be written at all).

If you think ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/sharutils will have too many files,
consider putting the diffs in a special directory, but having each
tar.gz in a different directory is a real PITA. Really.
