Hi,

a friend of mine just ran into #343976 in Squeeze. I though couldn't
reproduce the problem out of the box on my Sid machine, so I can't
help much about the real issue now.

But we found the following neat workaround ("Bash eternal history") which
at least saves all lines to a text file for manual consultation:
