(If it's true that the released versions of libarchive are no longer supported,
then I've missed the announcement.)

Here's a list of upstream commits that I've taken the liberty to backport
and include in the debian package so far:

Feel free to suggest additional suitable revisions that I should include.
(I'll start with the already mentioned revision).

... ofcourse, a new 2.8(.5) release would be even better so other
distributions also will get the suitable fixes.
