I guess the solution is just to use rm -f in your post-removal script.

Is it possible that the /var/games/gtkballs-scores file was deleted as a
normal package file and that's why the post-removal script can't find
it?  Also, maybe the file just wasn't created on my system, possibly
because no one played the game or no one made a high score before I
deleted the package.
