This patch is also present in the (current) upstream version and my
patch has been accepted and is now available in the upstream CVS.
Please include it in the next release of your package (as a separate
patch as long as upstream has not released a new version including
this patch).
Below you'll find the response from upstream. I removed all parts not
relating to this bug.
