I saw no need to define $HOME or override dh_auto_clean or dh_auto_build. But perhaps that's more of a function of removing the extension modules (which are no longer supported or needed by 0.5.1) than moving to dh_python2. Or maybe I misunderstood the intent of $HOME and the overrides. There are no comments in the d/rules file to explain the intent. Cheers.
