Package: jabberd14
Version: 1.6.1.1-5+b1
Severity: normal

jabberd error reporting is nearly non-existing.
For example, access denied opening user profile
.xml file is silently ignored (returning
"unauthorized" to client without a way to
understand what's wrong, only strace on the
server helps). Another example is #256622.
When initializing network connections and
socket() fails (see #579945), instead of
providing at least errno code it suggests
that this is due to another server is running,
which is stupid.

Severity is at least normal not a wishlist,
since there are numerous other issues which
can be only diagnosed using a hammer (strace)
without at least minimal attempt for error
reporting.
