Thank you both for your suggestions. Auto-detection of autofs partitions and usage of someone's particular adduser recipe are not generic solutions enough, which means that I cannot use them.
As to why /home/ANONYMOUS, it mostly is because output directories must be relative to $HOME. Ideally, output for the anonymous Samba user would go to some temporary folder of its own, separate from user directories, perhaps to a tmpfs filesystem.
