It seems that other DM does not use pam_ck_connector module. GDM does not use it and the patched version of XDM does not use it either. In Debian, this PAM module is configured to enable ConsoleKit only for a text console. Here is a patch for XDM. Maybe this can easily be adapted for slim: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17325 However, in the meanwhile, maybe this is better to use pam_ck_connector by adding an appropriate /etc/pam.d/slim file and fix the bug Alexis mentioned.
