What make you think that the doc is not completely readable with a text
browser ?
The only goal of the javascript code embed in the HTML pages of the
documentation is to display a TOC on top of the pages.
IMO, it makes the page a little bit less comfortable to read (with a
browser which do not support javascript) but it's far from being
unreadable.
