Hi, first, the broken thread debug is a python issue, nothing we can about unfortunately, other than revamping our debug thread logging completely.
There have been many reports, and most of them are with gmail servers. This commit in mainline is supposed to fix the hangs. https://github.com/nicolas33/offlineimap/commit/b94bf792585a9297851bdb965c4bbd6bdadeeb42 The fix is not in 6.3.2 yet but will be in the next stable version of offlineimap that is going to be released. Please try the current mainline branch and let us know if the hangs are still there.
