Hello, I just found this issue has been extensively investigated in one of Debian mailing lists.
http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2011/02/msg00300.html It seems that the issue involves a strategic shift of Gnome itself. So, I believe it is really not a bug of Chromium.
