Surprise-surprise! I am an upstream developer, so I happen to know that the package lags far behind the latest released version, but there are reasons for that and the most important one is the lack of time to implement the accumulated amount of changes that need to be done properly. I can explain where we are now and what needs to be done and maybe you can think of how you can help. Otherwise, I always hope that I'll get to it on the "next weekend", but so far I don't know when exactly this will happen.
