Hi Michael, and thanks for your bugreport. I had trouble to reproduce this behaviour and to find the culprit code; it's now found: it was in the dpkg-maintscript-helper migration that the *.maintscript file was mis-named, then correctly re-named without bumping the "last version in which said conffile is present".
