Sorry for not noticing this in /etc/init.d/cups. It didn't seem logical that the dependency would be declared there! Anyway, I indeed don't have insserv installed on this machine. Since it's not optional in a squeeze system, I don't think there is anything else that needs to be done to either package to make them work once I upgrade this machine to squeeze.
