Package: r-cran-jit Severity: normal The (r-cran-)jit package provides an experimental just-in-time compiler for R that was designed for the Ra (r-base-core-ra) patch of an accelerated R (for which I just filed an RM as well). Without Ra, it has no use, and as I wrote
R 2.13.* itself now contains an experimental bytecode compiler, and as this is how the development is happening, the r-base-core-ra package (which is essentially several megabytes of R plus a few hundert kilobytes of a patch) is becoming cruft. Let's remove it. The same applies to r-cran-jit, the sole dependency of r-base-core-ra.
